Maureen Denise McCormick, youngest daughter and sole daughter of Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills on 5 August 1956. The mother was also a homemaker. Her three brothers are older: Michael, Dennis and Kevin. McCormick has always been a fan of singing, dancing, as well as putting on shows with puppets. The fairy tale began for McCormick when she was six years old and won an award in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest. Then she received a phone call by Pat Domigan, a talent agent with the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to work in the show business. McCormick was offered her first major job when she was cast as a television commercial in 1964, for Mattel's new doll, "Baby Pattaburp." The next big project she was a part of was in a commercial on television for the "Chatty" Cathy doll. The musical It and It breaks It then It breaks, which took place in the La Jolla Playhouse, followed. McCormick auditioned for a role in 'The Brady Bunch.' She was chosen from more than 1200 children who auditioned to play the older of the two-headed girls on the TV series The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson played the newlyweds, and Robert Reed, the blended family. The show ran for 5 seasons. McCormick admitted in her book that was published in 2008, entitled Here's My Story: Surviving Marcia Brady And Finding My True Voice in 2008, she revealed that Barry Williams was her screen brother. She was just 16 when she was in the scene; he was 19. She stated that "it would have happened" but the timing wasn't the right time.
